NIAID Grant Writing Training and Mentoring Program 2024 Kickoff

April 30, 2024

NIAID Training kicked off the fifth year of its annual Grant Writing Training and Mentoring Program in March. This course takes fellows through the full life cycle of the grant proposal process, from identifying the right grant mechanism according to one’s career goals to participating in a mock review session to receive expert feedback on their completed proposals. Learn about what some of this year’s participants hope to gain from completing the program.

This year, predoctoral, postdoctoral, and clinical fellows will present a range of talk types, spanning quick speed pitches all the way to longer-form oral talks. The agenda will also feature work from the NIAID Outstanding Mentor awardee and a trailblazer in HIV/AIDS research.

NIAID Postbac Hailey Johnson to Represent NIAID at 2023 NIH Three-minute Talk Competition

NIAID postbac Hailey Johnson will represent NIAID at the 2023 NIH Three-minute Talk (TmT) Competition on June 22, 2023. She received the highest marks during NIAID's TmT competition last month for her talk titled, “Identification of Brugia malayi microRNAs Involved in Wolbachia-Host Symbiosis.” The NIH Three-minute Talk Competition occurs annually as part of an effort to improve efficient scientific communication while also showcasing the amazing research carried out by fellows across the NIH.

As NIAID Concludes its 2022 Grant Course, a Few Thoughts

NIAID fellows recently completed the 2022 NIAID Grant Writing Training and Mentoring Program, offered by the NIAID Office of Research Training and Development (ORTD). This course, which ran from March to September, was presented by experienced grant writers and reviewers. More than simple passive instruction, the course digs deep into the grant writing skill set, empowering participants to receive mentoring and guidance as they write real grants and fellowship applications. In Case You Missed It—NIH/FDA Cytokine Interest Group Showcases NIAID Research

July 20, 2021

The NIH/FDA Cytokine Interest Group (CIG) met for a mini-symposium on June 10, 2021, to honor the memory of immunology research giant William E. Paul, M.D. Two NIAID scientists were selected as the winners of the 2020 William E. Paul Award for the best papers in cytokine research, Sang Hun Lee (3rd place, ex aequo), a staff scientist in the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases, and Lindsey B. Rosen (1st place), a predoctoral fellow in the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology & Microbiology.
