Revisions, also known as competing supplements, have fixed application due dates. Your particular due date will depend on your current award’s activity code and the funding opportunity announcement (FOA) through which you choose to apply.
For example, the NIH Research Project Grant (Parent R01, Clinical Trial Not Allowed) FOA sets revision application deadlines using NIH’s Standard Due Dates: March 5, July 5, and November 5, and for AIDS-related applications May 7, September 7, and January 7; the NIAID Clinical Trial Implementation Cooperative Agreement (U01, Clinical Trial Required) FOA has revision application deadlines on May 13, September 13, and January 13; and the Identification and Characterization of Bioactive Microbial Metabolites for Advancing Research on Microbe-Diet-Host Interactions (R01, Clinical Trial Not Allowed) FOA does not accept revision applications.
Revision awards may not extend beyond the term of the current grant’s project period, so pay attention to the earliest start date listed at Review and Award Cycles to ensure you have enough time left on your current award. See our Revision of a Grant SOP to learn more.
