Tune in for NIAID Advisory Council Meeting on January 30, 2024 

Portions of NIAID Advisory Council meetings that are open to the public are also streamed live on the NIH Videocast website. The NIAID Council Agenda lists which segments of the upcoming meeting are open to the public.

Watch NIAID Director Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo and guest speaker Dr. Monica Bertagnolli, NIH Director, deliver prepared remarks at the NIAID Advisory Council Meeting—January 2024 on January 30, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time. (Note: January 30 is a Tuesday. This marks the first time Council is not meeting on a Monday in more than a decade.) 

That same day, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time, you can also stream the AIDS Research Advisory CommitteeDivision of Allergy, Immunology, and Transplantation Subcommittee; and Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Subcommittee meetings.

All open session NIAID Advisory Council meetings are archived within several days at NIH Videocast Past Events and indexed in the “Advisory” category. Note that this meeting will be conducted virtually.

Attend NIH Office of Extramural Research Webinar on Grants Policy Changes 

On January 31, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time, NIH policy experts will discuss recent policy updates, important reminders, and potential impacts on grant recipients. Then attendees will have an opportunity to pose questions during a live questions and answers session.

eRA Commons ID Required for Senior/Key Personnel, Other Significant Contributors

Applicants, remember, anyone listed as a program director/principal investigator, senior/key personnel, or other significant contributor on an NIH grant application must have an eRA Commons ID. If you complete the entry field with an incorrect ID or leave it blank, the system validation will return an error. Such errors must be corrected before you can successfully submit an application.

Offer Feedback on the NIH Strategic Plan for Data Science

Recently, NIH updated its Strategic Plan for Data Science 2023-2028. You are invited to review the Plan and submit comments on:

  • The appropriateness of the goals of the plan, the strategies and implementation tactics proposed to achieve them; including potential benefits, drawbacks, or challenges.
  • Opportunities for NIH to partner to achieve these goals.
  • Emerging research needs and opportunities that should be added to the plan.
  • Any other topic the respondent feels is relevant for NIH to consider in developing this strategic plan.

Respond by sharing your input at Request for Information (RFI): Inviting Comments on the NIH Strategic Plan for Data Science 2023-2028. The deadline to submit a response is March 15, 2024. Take care not to include any proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information.
