NIH Natural Disaster Policy Applies to Recent Weather Events

NIH will consider accepting applications after a submission deadline from investigators whose institutions close due to a natural disaster, such as a tornado, hurricane, or wildfire. If your institution was closed, explain the cause of submission delay in your Cover Letter, and NIH will consider accepting it late. The lateness of your application should not exceed the number of days the applicant institution was officially closed.

For current recipients, contact the grants management specialist or program officer assigned to your grant if you are concerned about your ability to submit financial and progress reports on time due to institutional closures.

For more information, read the September 7, 2023 Guide notice.

Confirm Accuracy of Grants Information for Fiscal Year 2023

NIH encourages recipient organizations to verify the accuracy of their grant assignments to departments or components within organizations of higher education in eRA Commons through the “Grant Reassign” function. Any corrections to the data must be made by 8 p.m. Eastern Time on October 3, 2023, to be reflected in NIH annual reports.

Find additional instruction in the September 6, 2023 Guide notice.
