Through the Request for Information (RFI): Strategies for Maximizing Public Engagement in NIH Supported Clinical Research, NIH seeks information to assist the agency in developing additional engagement strategies that ensure public voices are meaningfully incorporated in NIH-supported clinical research studies.
This RFI is part of a larger NIH effort to develop a vision and framework for incorporating public voices in all phases and types of clinical research. To accomplish this, NIH asked the Novel and Exceptional Technology and Research Advisory Committee (NExTRAC) to form the ENGAGE Working Group, which includes patients, advocates, researchers, clinicians, non-profit representatives, and more.
For the purposes of this RFI, NIH is specifically seeking input about engaging the public throughout all stages of clinical research; not solely during recruitment or participation in clinical research and trials. Your response can help inform the development of NExTRAC and the ENGAGE Working Group’s recommendations on incorporating public perspectives in clinical research.
Submit your feedback electronically using the form linked above.
Responses must be received by no later than August 14, 2024.
Responses to this RFI are voluntary and may be submitted anonymously. Individuals may also voluntarily include their name and contact information with responses.
Other than name and contact information, do not include any personally identifiable information or any information that you do not wish to make public. Proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information should not be included in responses. The responses may be posted to NIH’s Office of Science Policy website without redaction.
