Vaccine Adjuvant Compendium (VAC)

The Vaccine Adjuvant Compendium (VAC) was launched in 2021 by the NIAID Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Transplantation (DAIT) to foster collaborations between NIAID-supported adjuvant researchers and the broader scientific community.

How To Use VAC

The VAC serves the following two communities:

  1. Vaccine researchers and developers: Access adjuvant metadata
    • Adjuvant records in VAC list the points of contact for each adjuvant to allow vaccine researchers to contact the intellectual property (IP) holder directly.
  2. Adjuvant developers: Share your adjuvant metadata
    • Adjuvant intellectual property (IP) holders interested in depositing information about an adjuvant in VAC should contact DAITAdjuvantGrp@niaid.nih.gov to establish a submitter account.

Exploring VAC

  • You can search for adjuvants based on the following: keyword search; receptor of interest; immune profile; disease area/pathogen; and product grade.
  • Each VAC record contains the following:
    • Contact information for the IP-holder
    • Vaccine Ontology ID: Each adjuvant in VAC is assigned a unique ID number (vaccine ontology ID) that links the VAC record to a corresponding entry in the Ontobee Vaccine ontology site; authors are encouraged to cite the Vaccine Ontology ID in publications
    • Properties about the adjuvant, including chemical nature, receptor, mechanism of action, storage and stability characteristics, among others
    • Preclinical use and associated publications
    • Clinical use and associated publications
    • Product Grade and Formulation(s)
