Biography

Agnieszka Korzeniowska obtained her M.S. degree in water microbiology and biotechnology. She first joined the Molecular Defenses Section (LHD, NIAID) in 2007, where she developed expertise in molecular and cell biology as applied to functional studies on several NOX family NADPH oxidases. Her research has focused on three areas: NOX gene defects associated with epithelial barrier function and inflammatory bowel disease, DUOX1 and DUOXA1 gene defects linked to susceptibility to pulmonary and disseminated fungal infections, and NOX4 regulation in mutant p53 tumors affecting cell migration and inflammatory signaling in the tumor microenvironment.
