Biography

Joanna Utoh is a Family Nurse Practitioner who works in the Laboratory of Allergic Diseases in the Food Allergy Research Section at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. She works on 3 protocols including a randomized placebo-controlled crossover study to assess the safety of administering a second dose of COVID-19 mRNA vaccine in individuals who experienced a systemic allergic reaction to the initial dose, a natural history protocol studying food allergy and related conditions, and a prospective study seeking to identify food specific IgE threshold levels that predict food allergy in patients with elevated total IgE and atopic dermatitis. She worked in primary care for seven years before joining the NIH in January 2020.
