Biography
Complete elimination of Mycobacterium tuberculosis population with anti-TBs is difficult even when the bacteria are susceptible to drugs. Drug-induced stress places the pathogen under intense pressure that can, in turn, contribute to upregulation of survival mechanisms, leading to often incurable infections. Nicholaus is investigating novel mechanisms utilized by the pathogen to circumvent drugs during treatment.
