NIAID Is Operating Under a Continuing Resolution
NIAID will remain funded at the level of fiscal year (FY) 2023 appropriations through March 8, 2024, when the current continuing resolution (CR) will expire. All legislative mandates that were in effect in FY 2023 remain in effect under this CR, as well as the salary limitation set at Executive Level II of the Federal Pay Scale and the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award predoctoral and postdoctoral stipend levels, tuition, and fees. Refer to the February 5, 2024 Guide notice.

Prepare Now for Opportunity on Cell and Gene Therapies for HIV Cure
This April, NIAID plans to publish a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) inviting research for the development, characterization, and advancement of gene- and cell-based approaches to achieve long-term remission or elimination of HIV.
The NOFO will use the research program projects (P01) activity code, which means applicants will propose multiple projects that should be synergistic in nature. Projects should also be collaborative—we will require that each application include at least one private sector partner that contributes materially and intellectually to develop strategies appropriate for future clinical studies and ultimately commercialization.
Read the February 6, 2024 Guide notice if this research topic matches your scientific expertise. The notice of intent is meant to provide potential applicants extra time to identify possible collaborators.
Watch Webinar to Hone Applications for DEIA Supplements
The February 16, 2024 due date for Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Administrative Supplements to Recognize Excellence in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Mentorship is fast approaching. The NOSI provides support for scientists who’ve demonstrated compelling commitments and contributions to mentorship and enhancing DEIA in the biomedical sciences. Funding will support ongoing and future efforts.
The NOSI is novel, so we strongly recommend you review the Administrative Supplements to Recognize Excellence in DEIA Mentorship Webinar recording and Informational Webinar on NOT-OD-24-001 presentation slides before submitting your application.
