Grant recipients: When you complete your next Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR), you may encounter new questions that address the NIH Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy. As announced in the May 9, 2024 Guide notice, NIH plans to implement the new questions beginning with RPPRs submitted on or after October 1, 2024.

To align with the 2023 NIH DMS Policy, the new questions will prompt recipient responses on the status of data sharing, repositories, and unique identifiers for data that have been shared.

An updated NIH RPPR Instruction Guide will be posted to the Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR) page.

Review the list of Data Sharing and RPPR resources below for further guidance.

Direct all inquiries to the Office of Policy for Extramural Research Administration (OPERA) at GrantsPolicy@nih.gov.
