Nearly 30,000 people served as peer reviewers for NIH in fiscal year 2023, per NIH’s Peer Reviewers, by Fiscal Year and Type of Review. Over the past decade, the number of people who volunteer their time each year as peer reviewers has increased by about 15 percent.
