Biography

Cristina is passionate about using data science to address critical health challenges and has collaborated on interdisciplinary projects across research settings in Mexico, the UK, and the US. As an undergraduate, she applied data science techniques to analyze various biological organisms and bioprocesses. In her postgraduate training, she focused on using computational methods to understand the genetic and genomic underpinnings of complex human traits.

Before joining the Emerging Leaders Fellowship, Cristina worked as an APHL-CDC Bioinformatic Fellow at the Enteric Disease Laboratory Branch, where she contributed to projects on bacterial genome assembly and annotation, surveillance and outbreak detection, and computational pipelines for large-scale sequencing data.
