Biography
Brian is interested in the entomological field of arthropod vectors and the human pathogens they transmit. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Montgomery College, Maryland. Through many years of research work at NIH, Brian has amassed impressive expertise in molecular and biological techniques and procedures. He is highly specialized in the maintenance and rearing of various arthropods (mosquitoes, blackflies, sandflies, etc.) for molecular and genetic engineering projects (transgenic vectors) as well as for in vivo studies using small laboratory mammals. He is skilled in the micro-dissection of organs and tissues from disease vectors and in vivo and ex vivo procedures aimed at understanding the role of salivary molecules in blood-feeding arthropods. As a lab technician, Brian provides instrumental support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the Molecular Entomology Unit.
