NIH Releases Midcourse Review of the NIH-Wide Strategic Plan

Check out the recently released Midcourse Review of the NIH-Wide Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2021–2025, which illustrates progress toward the Strategic Plan’s priorities through the first half of its lifecycle and identifies steps to further achieve these priorities through the second half.

The review—consisting of multiple sections and reports—not only helps identify gaps and opportunities for action over the next 2.5 years but also highlights successes and challenges that can inform the next NIH strategic planning process, which began in early fiscal year 2025.

New Resources Webpage for Researchers with Disabilities

NIH recently launched a Resources for Researchers with Disabilities webpage that provides information and guidance for researchers with disabilities carrying out or reviewing biomedical research.

The webpage addresses relevant topics such as eligibility criteria for researchers with disabilities looking to serve as program director or principal investigator, existing resources for peer reviewers with disabilities, and concrete examples of how organizations can make the research environment accessible. The webpage also highlights relevant sections of the NIH Grants Policy Statement, statements and reports, and links to additional resources.

Are you the sort of person who learns better from attending a presentation than reading policy documents? Then visit NIH’s Calendar of Events page, where you can explore upcoming webinars on grants funding, processes, and procedures. Most events are virtual and free. You can replay past events as well.

If you do prefer reading, check out NIH’s new Information For index page, which arranges grants information and instruction by role, i.e., guidance tailored to researchers, research administrators, reviewers, small businesses, foreign grants applicants, and members of the media as well as the general public, respectively.
