Urethritis refers to infection and inflammation of the urethra. Urethritis is a condition that can result from infection with common STI pathogens including N. gonorrhoeae, C. trachomatis, T. vaginalis. A common form of urethritis in men is called “non-gonococcal urethritis” and this is mainly caused by infection with the bacteria Mycoplasma genitalium. Urethritis can develop from noninfectious causes, too.
