Attend “NIH Grants Process: A Brief Walk-Through for Beginners” Event on May 15

NIH’s Office of Extramural Research will host a webinar titled NIH Grants Process: A Brief Walk-Through for Beginners on May 15, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Attendees will learn about NIH research funding, resources for applicants, an overview of peer review and grant award processes, and NIH and applicant institutional roles and responsibilities.

Registration is required. Submit requests for reasonable accommodations to NIHGrantsEvents@nih.gov at least 5 days before the event.

Reminders for Small Business Concerns: TABA Supplements and Foreign Disclosures

As detailed in the March 27, 2024 Guide notice, small business award recipients may request Technical and Business Assistance (TABA) funds as part of an administrative supplement application. Examples of technical and business services that TABA funds may support include:

  • Assistance with product sales
  • Intellectual property protections
  • Market research or validation
  • Development of regulatory plans
  • Development of manufacturing plans
  • Database access to technical and business literature 

On a separate note, NIH updated its small business Foreign Disclosure and Risk Management webpage to clarify dimensions assessed in a due diligence review and provide case studies. We encourage you to refer to that page and its associated Frequently Asked Questions.

Webinar to Discuss U54 Opportunity on Systems Modeling of Infection and Immunity 

NIAID’s Office of Data Science and Emerging Technologies will host an informational webinar for those interested in learning more about the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) Center of Excellence for Systems Modeling of Infection and Immunity Across Biological Scales (U54, Clinical Trial Not Allowed). Program, review, and grants management staff will highlight key features of the NOFO and answer questions from prospective applicants. Applications for this NOFO are due on July 30, 2024.

The virtual session will take place on May 22, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Time. Webinar Registration is available now. Direct requests for reasonable accommodations to datascience-foa@niaid.nih.gov at least 5 days prior to the meeting.
