The Bioinformatics and Computational Biosciences Branch (BCBB) offers a suite of scientific services and resources for the NIAID research community and its collaborators. BCBB provides expertise and computational solutions to researchers at all levels of experience. Computational biologists collaborate on projects using a wide variety of techniques and approaches, and offer research support and training on software to answer related research questions.

3D Printing and Biovisualization
The 3D printing and biovisualization program encompasses tools and technologies for enhanced bioscientific and medical visualization.
Bioinformatics Software Development
The bioinformatics software development team develops custom bioinformatics software applications or analytical pipelines that can meet this need. We also share these tools publicly to further advance biomedical discovery.
Clinical Genomics
The clinical genomics team focuses on analysis of patient-related data, including exome/genome analysis and RNA-seq, to aid in clinical research projects for diagnosis of known diseases and discovery of novel genetic disorders.
Data Science, Biostatistics, and Informatics
The data science, biostatistics, and informatics team focuses on maximizing the value and knowledge contained in your data to identify patterns, prioritize experimental variables, and perform predictive modeling.
Imaging
The imaging team aims to understand the structure and distribution of components and processes at the sub-cellular, cellular, or gross anatomical levels.
Metagenomics
The microbiome and meta-omics team focuses on analyses of microbes and microbial ecology including metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, metabolomics, and integrations of other 'omics data.
Microbial Genomics
The microbial genomics team has expertise in many types of genomics methods applied to metagenomics, microbial genomics, transcriptomics, phylogenomics and others.
Structural Biology
The structural biology team develops and applies theoretical and computational methods to biological problems at the molecular level. Our work encompasses a broad range of topics relevant to structural biology, from quantum chemical calculations of small molecules to large-scale simulations of macromolecules and their complexes.
